“Theatre is like a gym for empathy.
It is where we can go to build up the muscles of compassion,
to practice listening & understanding & engaging with people that are not just like ourselves.
We practice sitting down, paying attention, & learning from other people’s actions. We practice caring.”
This is an HONORS class. We will work together to create performances, productions, and projects that inspire and excite others (and ourselves) DRAMATICALLY.
“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts.”

BUT, if you find a monologue that you like is overdone, research other plays by that playwright and maybe there is another character in a lesser known play that would speak to you also. So that isn’t always a total dealbreaker!! Just a bit more research needed to find an alternative…
