I realized that all the paperwork, performances, & projects were all wonderful experiences BUT we can have a million experiences and never change. So you seeing growth as a part of your story is more what I wanted to bring out in Theatre class. So at the end of the 9 weeks you will tell my your story. And you evaluate your own growth using a rubric. Everyone starts at a different point in this journey, and everyone ends up somewhere different from where they start. Tell me about your journey. Your story will always be a better judge of what you are learning than any assessment I could ever create…
“If the point of life is the same as the point of a story, the point of life is character transformation. If I got any comfort as I set out on my first story, it was that in nearly every story, the protagonist is transformed. He’s a jerk at the beginning and nice at the end, or a coward at the beginning and brave at the end. If the character doesn’t change, the story hasn’t happened yet. And if story is derived from real life, if story is just condensed version of life then life itself may be designed to change us so that we evolve from one kind of person to another.
